This design freebie is a unique piece of vector art that you can use in a variety of settings. It’s a carnivorous plant vector, specifically a pitcher plant. Pitcher plants trap their prey by emitting a sweet nectar at the base of the tube. There are little hairs that prevent the insects from escaping once they start traveling into the plant. Once they’re caught, the plant shuts itself and begins to digest the insect. Crazy!–truly a carnivorous plant! This painting was done in 1904 by artist, biologist, professor, and physician Ernst Haeckel (quite a busy man!). The colors in this piece are truly amazing. The original is even more colorful, but I tried to keep the vector art version on the smaller side (in a loose sense of the word) at 10 MB, so it’s toned down some.
Here’s a low-res preview of what it looks like in full:

This vector art piece is free for personal and commercial work. Please do not hotlink to the download, and refer to our terms of use for more information regarding usage.
