Because I am such a Lewis Carroll, Tim Burton, and Johnny Depp fan, I wanted to release this set of 19 super high-resolution Alice in Wonderland Photoshop brushes well before the movie came out so you could show some fan love. The brushes come from John Tenniel’s original woodcut illustrations for Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, which was published in 1865. Carroll had no intention of publishing it at the beginning, and the original manuscript was, in fact, illustrated by Carroll himself.
The Alice story is beloved by readers both young and old, and there’s something in it for everyone. There are drug references, mind-bending worlds, talking animals, and charming prose throughout the book. I grew up watching the Disney movie, and as I made the brushes I found myself singing about cabbages and kings and painting the roses red. Who knew that Carroll (which is a pseudonym for Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) wrote this yarn for a friend’s daughter, appropriately named Alice? There have even been rumors that Carroll/Dodgson had a bit of a thing for the girl. It’s hinted that http://www.arsgrafik.com/wp-admin/post-new.phphe might have asked the then 11-year-old child to marry him. Missing diary pages and the continued protection of Carroll’s personal life by the Dodgson family point to some funny business.
All the same, the Alice story is near and dear to us all. And the marriage of Lewis Carroll and Tim Burton in the upcoming film makes it all the better. I am in love with Tim Burton’s films, and Johnny Depp has held a dear place in my heart since I was a young girl. Helena Bonham Carter is one of my favs as well. And anytime this trio comes together on screen there’s magic. It’s not just acting either–Johnny Depp is the godfather of Carter and Burton’s offspring!
Here’s some trivia for you: what was the rabbit’s name in Alice in Wonderland? Submit your answers below.
Getting back to business: this Alice in Wonderland brush set is high resolution so you can use them for print work as well as web. They’re great for screenprints, stationery, posters, and anything else you can think of.
